Got Scraps??

If you have been paper crafting for any amount of time, you will accumulate scraps that you just KNOW you will find a use for… and after a time, you will realize that there is hording going on in your paper supplies… hit a nerve? I know I am GUILTY!! I have so many ideas that I never seem to have time to implement, but decided to teach my customers about cakes & gift boxes that can be made of scraps!

Wedding Card

For the wedding card, I am featuring the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder (which to my sugar deprived brain, looks like frosting). I took my strips of Basic White CS, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Painted Texture 3D EF, cut to the length I wanted, then rounded the upper corners with the Detailed Corners punch, and popped them up with Dimensionals. The card base is Basic White CS cut and folded to 4-1/4”x5-1/2”, with a layer of Basic White CS, cut to 4”x5-1/4”. I used the Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and Water Painters for the watercoloring. I used the Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz inks in varying degrees to obtain the subtle color

changes. Using the Wreath Builder dies from the Arrange A Wreath Bundle, I cut & manipulated the wreath when it was still wet to get it to wrap around the cake. I also cupped the blossoms while damp to get them to dry 3D as well. I adhered the foliage and bow using Mini Glue Dots. I used the Ornate Borders dies for the cake platter. More detailed photos below…

This simple, yet fun-fold easel card was utilizing the Sale-a-bration FREE Flower & Field DSP and the FREE Approaching Perfection cling stamp set.

The card base is Just Jade CS, cut long-wise, folded at 5-1/2” and at 2-3/4” to make the easel fun-fold. Again, I used scraps for the layers of the cake (varies from 1/2” to 1” high & lengths vary from 3” to 1” wide), and rounded the corners of the top side of each scrap with the Detailed Corner Punch. The scraps consist of Just Jade CS, Basic Black CS and the Sale-a-bration FREE Flower & Field DSP. I used the largest of the scalloped rectangle Stitched So Sweetly dies with Basic White CS. I stamped the candles in Bumble Bee ink from the FREE Approaching Perfection set first, then layered the scraps under the candles, smallest to largest. Each piece was popped up with Dimensionals. The last piece was wrapped with the White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. The cake platter was made with a 1/4” scrap of Basic Black CS, trimmed with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch to obtain the plate look. The Bumble Bee CS layer was cut to 3”x4-1/4” over the Basic Black CS layer, cut at 3-1/8”x4-3/8”. The Bumble Bee polka dot is the FREE Flower & Field DSP, cut 4”x2-1/2” and a second one cut at 4”x3”. The smaller piece was placed on the top portion (underside of base folded back). and the larger piece was placed inside the card on the bottom portion. A 2”x4” piece of Basic White CS was placed on the inside above the polka-dot piece for the inside verse and a place to write. For the verse that the easel card hooks on, I used Just Jade ink on Basic White CS, then cut it down to 1-3/8”x2-1/4”, layered over the Just Jade CS label, cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I popped the verse up with Dimensionals. I also punched out little blossom from the DSP and added that as well. You can stamp more messages on the inside of the card on the white piece or leave it blank. A fun birthday card!
