HAPPY Birthday
With sweet little images like this April daisy, I love using watercoloring techniques to create simple yet elegant cards. I love how the simple layers spotlight the sweet little image, yet giving it a big impact. I used an A2 card base using Basic White Thick cardstock, then used a a 1-3/4”x2-1/2” piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. I used Lost Lagoon and Pool Party ink to create a wash across the lower part of the paper and let it dry.

By inking the image with Stazon Ink, I am able watercolor without the image blurring. I used more Lost Lagoon ink for the leaves and stem, and Daffodil Delight ink for the center of daisy. I then distressed the four edges and popped it up on on a 1-7/8”x2-5/8” layer of Lost Lagoon cardstock and a 2”x2-3/4” layer of Basic Black cardstock and adhered them to the card front. The sentiment was inked with Memento Black ink. This card is so easy yet pretty, it can be done for all the months of the year!
I COULDN’T HAVE…
For this elegant card, I used the same technique as above, but instead die cut out the sweet image of the May Lilley of the Valley with the Year of Flowers die. I popped it up on a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, embossed with the NEW Damask Designs Embossing Folder and cut with the Beautiful Gallery frame die. The Lost Lagoon Two Tone cardstock was also embossed and die cut with the frame, and popped up with Stampin Dimensionals on a piece of 2-3/4”x4-1/2” Basic Black cardstock to make the frame pop.
All of this was put on a 4”x5-1/4” piece of Basic Beige cardstock embossed with the same embossing folder and placed on an A2 card in Basic White Thick cardstock.
I used more of the Lost Lagoon ink washed over the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper to die cut the foliage. After assembling the rest of the card, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Ink and die cut it out with the Nested Essentials dies and popped it up with the foliage tucked under the sentiment. My last touch was adding the Iridescent Foil Gems. So pretty yet simple!
